The South African Krugerrand is the world’s most recognized and desired bullion coin. At one point, Krugerrands made up nearly 90% of the gold bullion market. Produced at the Rand Mint, the coin shows Paul Kruger on the obverse and a springbok on the reverse. The Krugerrand was originally meant for circulation, but became the first gold coin produced for individual ownership of gold. The Krugerrand comes in denominations of 1/10 ounce, ¼ ounce, ½ ounce, and 1 ounce.
